This association is situated on the outskirts of the city of Cusco in the slums of the neighborhoods "Hermanos Ayar". There are 200 families involved in the project; they face difficulties in accessing basic services as well as social problems as a result of its high unemployment, alcoholism, violence among others.
As objectives they want to reduce the working hours of children in the streets, avoiding the risk for their personal safety and their education. They help the children and adolescents to develop and improve their skills and to expand their social networks. On the other hand seek to strengthen family ties of these children from falling into neglect and thus improve the quality of life for them.
Thanks to the collaboration and organization of volunteers with the community they reached to run an education and development program by starting a communal library and forming a place called "The Ants" for children between 3 and 5 years. The participation of parents with training and workshops in jewelry and silver thread, weaving, etc which helps the people to secure more financial means for the families.
As a volunteer in this project
you will be part of the education and development program in the library. You
help with the attendance of children from the kinder garden or collaborating in
workshops that are taught in the evenings to the children, such as dance and
theater, games, sports and more.
The volunteer can also participate in the donations made to the children, as school kits consisting of educational material that is most needed.
Workdays: Monday to Friday from 15.00h – 18.00h
